AIR RAIDS Fact Sheet: First Aid Kits |
- First Aid training was an integral part of the work of the British Red Cross and St. John Ambulance. Both organisations arranged training courses, published First Aid Manuals, and produced First Aid kits.

- It was suggested that a First Aid Dressing Box be kept at places of work containing the following: manual on First Aid, sterilized dressings, tannic acid tablets, packets of cotton wool, alcoholic solution of iodine, sal volatile (smelling salts), eye drops, splints, adhesive plaster, tourniquet, roller and triangular bandages, safety pins and an electric torch.

- Training and practical exercises meant thousands of members were equipped to act quickly in the event of an accident.

- Today, a First Aid kit should include at least: a guidance card, sterile dressings, individually wrapped adhesive dressing (plasters), eye pads, triangular bandages, and safety pins.
